Approach

Connecting with Likeminded Organizations

I am passionate about helping to leave this world better than I found it. I have a particular interest in education and the environment, and most of my clients fall into those two categories. I also have experience writing and managing grants for economic development, criminal legal issues, health and human services, and women’s rights.

Crafting a Tailored Plan

It’s extremely important to me that I get to know each client well. Once I thoroughly understand your organization’s unique positioning, I can craft an institutional fundraising plan, manage a pipeline of existing grants and reports, or develop a compelling proposal. Getting to know what you and your team are passionate about is half the fun and makes our time together much more successful!

Working Together

I am a single-member LLC and am able to support a limited number of clients at a given time. However, carrying a small client load allows me to really become part of your organization during our time together. Whether you’re looking for strategic guidance, ongoing support without a need for a full-time hire, or more hands on deck while you’re in a transition period, I can meet you where you are.

Testimonials

  • “Erica has been a joy to work with. Her commitment to our organization and our work fighting for environmental justice and against climate change has elevated our organization’s development returns significantly. Her ability to understand and prioritize the needs of our diverse constituency has made our work with her seem more like a passion than a job. Under Erica’s leadership we have been able to improve our development infrastructure and better organize our deliverables, timelines, and deadlines to the delight of our funders. We look forward to continuing to grow working with Erica!”

Mark Magaña, Founding President & CEO | GreenLatinos

  • “Erica and I worked together for a number of years at NatureBridge and again when I hired her as a contractor at Pisces Foundation. I am super impressed with Erica’s work and, especially, her ability to synthesize complex ideas around environmental education and articulate them in an understandable, compelling way.”

Jason Morris, Sr. Program Officer | Pisces Foundation

  • “Erica has been great to work with! When she started supporting our organization, we had no clear plan for our fundraising goals, previous donors, and prospective donors. She helped organize our files, set up an easy-to-follow system, and ensured we stayed up to date with our grants. The grant writing we have requested has been clear, with a deep understanding of what the funders are seeking while using our Club language to articulate our needs. We highly recommend Erica for your grant writing needs!”

Mandy Lipp, Executive Director | Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County

  • “Erica brings her expertise in strategic guidance, funder knowledge, concise and compelling writing, and clear articulation of grant execution to our institutional giving revenue goals. She is flexible in her delivery and adaptable to meet the needs of our organization, particularly in the swift pivots that were needed during the COVID-19 pandemic. She understands the entire grants cycle from prospecting to stewardship, docketing and managing the process in a seamless and productive manner. Integrated into this process is her ability to capture the aligned language of our work, and has elevated many funders' responses to our applications. For example, we have had long-term funders respond to grants she's written saying they have never seen a grant application so clearly articulated (even after we have been funded by that funder for 10+ years). On top of this, Erica is deeply committed to the nonprofit sector and can rapidly capture the complexities in which we are working. Her sense of humor, deep compassion, and commitment to her craft is unmatched, and we are so fortunate to have her on our team.”

Elizabeth Super, Chief Development Officer | Eye to Eye

  • “Erica has been an invaluable writing resource for my firm and my clients. A consummate professional, Erica is efficient, diligent and well-organized, and her positive attitude helps greatly in working through challenging proposals and writing projects.”

    Jesse Torres, Principal | ArroyoWest

  • “Erica’s prior experience working at the intersection of education and the environment meant she was able to very quickly contribute to our fund development efforts in a meaningful way. In addition to proposal writing and grant reports, she is also very skilled at writing marketing copy for newsletters, etc. I highly recommend working with Erica.”

Karen Cowe, CEO | Ten Strands

  • “I thoroughly enjoyed working with Erica. She took the time to get to know my organization through thoughtful questions, and she even made a site visit. Her work was clear and concise and on time. I would definitely use her services again.”

Sharla Pidd, Development Manager | Spirit Rock Meditation Center

  • “I worked with Erica while I was an interim development director. She was responsible for a very large portfolio of grants as well as leading a team from other campuses. I found her to be immensely reliable. She also has incredible writing skills and is very strong with the details! All the standards for an excellent grant writer!”
